NOTICE OF BOARD VACANCIES MERCY SHIPS CANADA
Mercy Ships Canada (MSCA) has embarked on a board renewal process. We seek up to two (2) dynamic independent Directors to join our Board over the next several months. The volunteer Board of Directors primarily sets policies and oversees the implementation of the charity’s vision, mission and strategic objectives. While based in Victoria, British Columbia, we are a national charity whose Board meets virtually. This is a remote, unpaid volunteer position with occasional in-person participation. Members of our Board of Directors are experienced and committed leaders with a wide range of knowledge, expertise, and perspectives.
We encourage applicants with some previous charity sector governance experience and knowledge of charities of a similar size and complexity as MSCA. Director recruitment is based on MSCA’s Board Skills and Experience Requirements. British Columbia-based candidates with strong business acumen and expertise in the areas below will be preferred to meet the identified needs arising from our Board renewal process:
• Board governance and leadership.
• Organizational development.
• Volunteer organizations.
|
• Human resources management or employment relations.
• Strategic communications
|
Applicants with experience in building a healthcare organization, partnerships, and volunteer programs would be able to contribute significantly to the director role. Individuals familiar with current and emerging issues in an international development context would also be aligned with MSCA’s Board Skills and Requirements. We seek to recruit individuals who reflect the diversity of our volunteers, patients and the nation served by Mercy Ships and who are aligned with our philosophy or service. Bilingualism in Canada’s official languages would be a strong asset, but we also seek to fill at least one Board role from an individual in British Columbia.
Applications are warmly welcomed on an ongoing basis from individuals who can demonstrate how they match Mercy Ships Canada's board member renewal needs. MSCA’s annual reports, financial statements, and other Information are available at http://www.msca.ca.
