Bethany Chapel is a growing church in the city of Calgary, Alberta. With a
history in Brethrenism, it functions now as an independent
nondenominational body of believers. We are conservative theologically,
contemporary in style, and committed to being a light to the world around us.
On any given weekend, we are about 450-500 in attendance, having grown
over 60% since the fall of 2022 coming out of Covid.
The ideal candidate will have the following qualifications:
- A committed believer/follower of Jesus Christ
- Agreement with Bethany's Statement of Faith (see website
bethanychapel.com)
- A degree related to church ministry, preferably a Masters
- Personable and relational
- A strong work ethic and a self-starter
- A good fit for the job description
- Five years of ministry experience
- An ability to oversee other staff

Pastor of Ministries
Reports to: Lead Pastor
Position Description:
The Pastor of Ministries provides oversight to all aspects of ministry (except
worship and preaching) either directly (personally) or indirectly (through staff).
Position Expectations:
Connecting Groups (40%)
- Cast and communicate a compelling vision and strategy which allows new
groups to form and draw in the “church and unchurched”
- Ensure new or existing attendees can be placed quickly into groups by
creating a surplus of potential leaders
- Oversee Connecting Groups by providing resources, training, and
coaching
- Encourage church-wide participation
- Review Group activities and Bible study material to ensure compatibility
with Bethany Chapel’s beliefs and values
- Oversee Director of Women’s Ministries
- Oversee Men’s Ministries directly, developing new groups and curriculum
that develop men in their faith.
- Oversee Director of Care Ministries and related connecting groups such as
Grief Share, Divorce Care, and other related groups
Pastoral Care (20%)
- Develop and oversee volunteer teams whose primary responsibility is
ensuring those with long term health issues retain a sense of connection
to Bethany Chapel
- Support families who have experienced the loss of a loved one through
visitation, counselling, and funeral planning
- Assist with Bethany Chapel’s Community outreach initiatives where
applicable
- Encourage congregational prayer for people experiencing hardship or loss
- Provide updates to the elders regarding the spiritual needs of those
struggling
- Offer spiritual guidance, counselling, pre-marital support, wedding
planning, and funeral planning, as needed
Family Ministries (10%)
- Oversee Youth Ministry and Children’s Ministry Directors and the direction
of all future programming
- Oversee Family Night team and planning process
- Develop curriculum that targets marriage and parenting interests for the
expansion of Connecting Groups
- Oversee Child Dedication Process and Baptism Process
- Coordinate our Plan to Protect Policy which is meant to protect Bethany
Chapel’s vulnerable population
Missions (10%)
- Oversee Missions policy, team, budget, strategic planning process, and
conference
- Work with Lead Pastor to coordinate Sunday morning missions event
First Impressions (10%)
- Oversee the First Impressions Director
- Be a Pastoral presence to key volunteer teams on Sunday mornings
Teamwork (10%)
- Attend all required meetings
- Support teammates
- Work closely with the Director of Operations to avoid conflict between
church events and rental opportunities
