The CBWC Foundation is seeking to fulfill the position of CBWC-F President in the fall of 2025. The Foundation's potential and mandate have grown significantly during the past five years. With our current President's upcoming retirement, we are looking for someone who will be inspired by the following opportunity:

  1. To be a trusted partner of Canadian Baptists of Western Canada, resourcing its affiliated congregations and ministries while inspiring stewardship and generosity,
  2. While providing resources and competent counsel on fundraising, stewardship, planned giving, investments, grants, and trusts.

JOB SUMMARY:

Steward the financial resources of the Canadian Baptists of Western Canada Foundation to help fund and support the mission and ministry of the CBWC to Cultivate Leaders, Invest in Relationship, and Engage in Mission.

  • Develop, implement, and manage programs that will enlarge the resource pool via major gifts, bequests, planned giving, receipt of grants, and profitable investment of existing resources.
  • Build and maintain supportive relationships with CBWC Staff, member churches, and affiliate ministries while leading a Foundation staff team in Calgary in passionate service for Jesus Christ and the local church.
  • The President reports to the CBWC-Foundation Board of Directors 

DUTIES: 

Key Accountability: Mission and Team Leadership

  • Provide strong collaborative leadership, direction, vision, strategic planning, goal setting, progress monitoring, and evaluation.
  • Ensure the effective recruitment, development, performance and support of Foundation staff and Board.
  • Establish a respectful workplace environment and implement effective and efficient practices for the execution of the Foundation work.

Percentage of Time: 10%

Key Accountability: Fund and Relationship Development

  • Direct profitable growth of funds under the CBWC Foundation’s responsibility and expand the financial, banking, and investment services throughout the CBWC constituency and to other third-party entities.
  • Pursue donations to long-term ministry funds.
  • Resource churches as they seek to encourage stewardship and generosity within their own context.
  • Dialogue cooperatively with the CBWC to support its objectives while pursuing a clear plan that ensures the CBWC Foundation will be a sustainable and growing financial and technical resource.
  • Work productively, positively, and collaboratively with the CBWC Foundation Board, Foundation Staff, CBWC Board, CBWC Executive staff, church leaders, pastors and leaders of CBWC agencies, and other third-party entities.
  • Identify opportunities to grow the financial health and capabilities of the CBWC family of ministries.   

Percentage of Time: 50%

Key Accountability: Financial Management

  • Ensure that all CBWC Foundation investments and funds are managed at an acceptable level of risk, that all due diligence requirements are appropriately addressed, recommendations are provided to the Foundation Board, as required by policy and procedures.
  • Direct all Foundation administrative functions, including budgeting, financial management and reporting and policy administration.
  • Build and maintain a cohesive staff leadership team, while providing leadership in the development of processes for staff supervision and evaluation.

Percentage of Time: 20%

Key Accountability: Governance and Administration

  • Act to ensure compliance with the Foundation’s constitution, bylaws, policies and all other statutory regulatory requirements.
  • Develop and propose policies that ensure accountability, transparency and appropriate risk management for shareholders.
  • Support the effective operation and governance of the Foundation Board through open communication and cooperative working relationships.
  • Ensure the facilitation of regular Foundation Board, committee, special meetings, and retreats, in support of the above.
  • Develop and employ promotional material and website content, while making effective use of emerging tools, in partnership with the CBWC.

Percentage of Time: 20%

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:

  • Demonstrate mature Christian faith and considerable leadership experience in Christian organizations.
  • Bachelor of Finance, Commerce, or Business Administration and/or considerable years of business/ financial experience. Preferred professional designations: personal financial planner, CPA, CLU, CPP. Demonstrate a strong work ethic, be results-oriented, and have a proven track record of successful experience in business planning, processes and operations, preferably in significant financial and/or other corporate sectors.
  • Familiarity with Canadian Charity requirements, practices, and operations.
  • Familiarity and experience in working with and supporting governance boards.
  • Ability to build strategic, trusting relationships.
  • Demonstrate superior interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills, and be competent in communications technology.

 POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

  • Live in greater Calgary and manage Foundation staff in the Calgary Head Office.
  • Attend a CBWC church while in the position of President.
  • This is a full-time position.

 SALARY:

  • Based on experience, while recognising that the Foundation is a church based charitable organization.

START:

  • Summer – Fall 2025
